Wow, long time away from Tumblr. I think a quick update is needed.
First off, here’s a snap of a poster I recently created for a Tenovus Cancer Charity event at Gwdihw in Cardiff. This was great fun for me and definitely a challenge as I had an open brief and complete creative control, the obvious solution was drawing an Owl to represent Gwdihw and using Orange and Blue to represent the charity. I’ll be there on the 01/04/12 so come say hi if you spot me.
Next, commissions. These are all rolling in fast as of late which is something i’ve had my fingers crossed for since December. Keep them coming. Currently, I’m spitting out loads of stuff for Kids companies which is always something I enjoy a lot. I have also just landed a place in South-East UK based music promotion company 4Eyed Promo as their Graphic Designer. Designing for bands are artists are where my roots are and it’s great to be involved in a proper promo company, producing work for music across a wide range of genres and artists. Good Times.
Other than that, I generally cannot complain. March and April are looking very busy what with work, freelance and the monumental task of moving house. Broadband companies, look out for me as I want pretty much 1,000,000MB speeds for like £5. Fingers crossed.
Keep checking back for me updates. In the meantime, hit me up on twitter. @dandidthat

A massive update and some new commissions!
OK so, an awful lot has happened since my last post. I spoke about a new found inspiration and drive for creativity thanks to a couple of hours spent at an art market talking to a couple of rather cool dudes! My new ethos was “They’re doing it, there’s no reason why I can’t”.
Well, after a couple of days slogging it out on Illustrator, tapping away with Dreamweaver and pulling some old stuff out of my sketch book (some of which still needs to be uploaded), I launched a brand new portfolio site and started abusing the power of networking. Turns out, all of this paid off almost immediately.
Out of the blue, I received a email from a very friendly and excited lady looking for some illustration work in my own style!
Shocking! I landed a commission through a revamp!
Needless to say I was bouncing off the walls and, honestly, I still am. The past weeks work has opened some exciting doors for me and the future is definitely thanks to #59BCED, some new found friends and a clients trust in my ability, excitement and drive.
All my current work for these guys should be going up on my site in the near future for everyone to have a little looksy.
My awesome week of illustration, branding and design has also been backed up by a well deserved trip to London for a kick ass heavy metal show, some pretty amazing food, coffee and confectionary and an absolutely wonderful girlfriend.

Good times all round!
New updates soon!

OVERHAUL!
Right,
Today I visited The Print House, which is on Llandaff Road, Cardiff (near Canton & up the road from Chapter Arts) and I spoke to a few phenomenal artists. Two of which being Godmachine (http://www.godmachine.co.uk/) and Ben Davies (http://www.bendaviesdesign.com/).
In what was quite possibly the best conversation of my year, all I could think about was, “wow, the work on my site is so old”, closely followed by “I am far too embarrassed to even think about giving either of them my out dated card”. These thoughts, however, did not take away the fact that I was grinning from ear to ear the whole time and completely giving myself away as a nerdy fanboy. Shame on me indeed.
So, after these meetings and the exchanging of handshakes, buying prints, receiving priceless advice etc etc, I went back to my sorry desk that had hardly been touched for a few months, switched on my abandoned computer and decided that enough was enough.
I literally have pages and pages of ideas in my sketch book that are of a far superior quality to any of the current work on my site. This backlog of work, coupled with one of the most inspiring afternoons I’ve ever had, has resulted in a massive “UNDER CONSTRUCTION” sign going up on my site. It’s now finally time for a long overdue OVERHAUL on my brain, my work and my site.
I’m going all out this time, new work, new site, new cards and a whole array of merch that I can literally throw at people in the street.
Exciting stuff…… Exciting future.
I absolutely love really simple stuff like this. Seeing these types of things makes me smile :)
